Q&A on Designing the Tree Trimming Game

What inspired the concept of The Tree Trimming Game? Was there a specific moment or idea that sparked its creation?

Any experienced tree-trimmer knows you want a balanced tree. In our home, clustering the same ornaments together is a big no-no. And when family and friends gather for the holidays, we’re often looking for something special to do together. We wanted to create a game and an experience – one that’s festive and truly brings everyone to the table.

How did you balance the challenge and accessibility of the game to cater to a wide range of players, from 2 to 24, and different ages?

The Tree Trimming Game will instantly turn your table into a festive space. The rules create a puzzle that’s simple enough to keep little ones interested (with no reading required!) and to push older kids to strategize. Meanwhile, the Holiday Spirit cards promote a jolly atmosphere for players of all ages to sing a song or share a memory. It’s truly fun for all ages.

The game involves both strategy and creativity. How did you find a balance between these two elements?

The game is a mix of easy-to-understand rules, game-play that invites cheer, and artwork illustrated to evoke the spirit of the season. Traditional ornaments mix with fun surprise ornaments. Who wouldn't want a donut ornament?

Can you share insights into the development of the Holiday Spirit cards? How do they enhance the overall gaming experience?

If we can encourage more singing, more cookies, and more revelry, then the game will be fun for more people in different ways. Some people love a puzzle. Others just want to sip eggnog and share memories. We worked to find a way to bring all those people to the table.

What was the biggest challenge you overcame in designing this game?

Getting the elves just right was a challenge – making them original but recognizable as holiday elves. Elves are festive but finicky creatures, it turns out!

How do you envision families and friends connecting and creating memories through The Tree Trimming Game during the holiday season?

Share your love of games with kids! Invite elders to join in! Have a laugh with friends!

No one is left out in the Tree Trimming Game. Little ones can play. Older players can strategize a bit! Everyone can share thoughts on holiday treats and traditions. We truly hope the Tree Trimming Game will become your new holiday tradition!

When do people need to order the game, to make sure it arrives before the holidays?

Ordering by December 15th should assure the game arrives ahead of the holidays.
